What practioners say about us Below you will find a selection of testimonials from recent locums… "When I left a permanent position in August 2005, I was quite leery of doing Locum work as you just never know what to expect. With Backstop, my fears were quashed immediately after my initial interview with them. They know Youth Justice and are experienced practitioners who genuinely care about your placements and overall happiness with your new employer. They don't pressure you to take jobs, that other agencies tend to do, and my overall working relationship with Backstop has been enjoyable. I trust Backstop, enjoy their reward schemes and recommend them to anyone wanting to do locum work." TD, Backstop temporary practitioner, Nov 2006 "Backstop has been very supportive and got me all the right placements. It has matched all my skills and I've never felt out of my depth in any of the roles. They have always kept in touch with me to see how I'm getting on. It's good to know that if I'm having a problem, that I could speak honestly about it to the people at Backstop without it going against me." EM, Backstop temporary practitioner, Dec 2006 "I had reservations about the insecurities associated with locum work. I found since joining Backstop the friendly, committed, efficient service invaluable. I think what is key, is their knowledge and appreciation of the profession" LM, Backstop Temp Ops Manager, Jan 2007 "I found the Backstop consultants very efficient in that they quickly understood my job needs, were extremely polite, they always made useful suggestions and frequently stayed in touch regarding new vacancies." KO, Backstop Temporary practitioner, January 2007 'Backstop is a supportive agency for locum staff who wish to utislise their skills in a youth offending oriented work environment. Through my locum appointments with Backstop I have found the staff to be very productive in finding me appropriate work suitable for my skill level. However, the support does not stop once you have been placed as is the case with most other agencies aside from the standard 1st week call you get and then never hear from your consultant until a problem arises usually with your pay. Personally, my experience with Backstop has been extremely strong and I have found my relationships with staff develop and overcome personality differences as these occur. The support received during difficult and unsupportive work placements is even superior than that received whilst looking for a placement. Backstop staff are trained and often have worked in a youth offending team capacity therefore no experience encountered by a locum is foreign to the experience of Backstop consultants which makes me as a locum feel safe and secure in my capacity as a professional. I highly recommend Backstop Support to any social worker or psychology graduate who has transferable skills and can assist young people make a difference in their lives by being supported by an agency that actually supports locums and is involved in their career development which in turn makes for loyal locums'.
