Through my locum appointments with Backstop I have found the staff to be very productive in finding me appropriate work suitable for my skill level. However, the support does not stop once you have been placed as is the case with most other agencies aside from the standard 1st week call you get and then never hear from your consultant until a problem arises usually with your pay. Personally, my experience with Backstop has been extremely strong and I have found my relationships with staff develop and overcome personality differences as these occur. The support received during difficult and unsupportive work placements is even superior than that received whilst looking for a placement. Backstop staff are trained and often have worked in a youth offending team capacity therefore no experience encountered by a locum is foreign to the experience of Backstop consultants which makes me as a locum feel safe and secure in my capacity as a professional. I highly recommend Backstop Support to any social worker or psychology graduate who has transferable skills and can assist young people make a difference in their lives by being supported by an agency that actually supports locums and is involved in their career development which in turn makes for loyal locums'.
