The ideal candidate will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of social work practice in Youth Offending teams, will possess management experience and be registered with the HCPC.
The pay rate for this locum specialist management job is up to £30 per hour (LTD Company Equivalent) and is an initial 3-month contract, which may be extended .
Some of the responsibilities of the YOS team manager:
To ensure the YOS meets all performance standards and to bring the standards of the service up to those of the best according to the HMIP inspection framework, and the Youth Justice Board’s National Standards and effective practice guidance
To prevent offending and re-offending by children and young people by managing a multi-agency youth offending service which includes secondees from Probation, Police, Education and Health and to provide a range of statutory services to young offenders in the context of their family setting in accordance with the requirements of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998.
To ensure the YOS meets the targets set nationally and within the Corporate and Children’s Plans
To manage the YOS Budget including all funding streams from partner agencies and the Youth Justice Board To establish and maintain effective partnership with all agencies involved with children and young people in the London Borough of Barnet with the aim of reducing and preventing crime, and providing effective services to reduce the risk of re-offending and serious youth violence by children and young people.
To adopt a safeguarding approach to youth offending issues, ensuring that potential causes of youth crime are tackled pro-actively, and that the prevention agenda is supported.
Extensive post qualification experience of working with children and families together with a significant level of experience of working with offenders in a statutory criminal justice setting.
Significant experience of social care or related profession or Youth Justice management at a senior level
High standard of written and verbal reasoning skills
Ability to analyse data and create developmental initiatives.
Ability to produce reports to committee standards
Excellent organisational skills
Ability to develop and lead a staff team
Ability to manage change and deal with stressful and demanding work situations
Ability to manage budgets, including numeracy and financial skills
