The ideal candidate will possess highly developed specialist knowledge of social work practice and be registered with the HCPC. They will be someone who knows what good social work looks like, with considerable knowledge and first-hand experience as a practitioner, and will be sufficiently experienced to oversee all casework undertaken by the team.
A brief description of this post:
This Team Manager post is in a Children’s Social Work Team, working with children from 0-18yrs who are children in need, children in need of protection, children subject to care proceedings and children requiring permanence through family and friends arrangements, adoption and fostering.
Supported by an Area Manager, you will be working closely with the Senior Social Workers, Assistant Team Managers and Senior Practitioners within your team to ensure that the right actions are taken at the right time, in the best interests of children and their families.
You’ll allocate, audit and monitor casework, as well as supervise and monitor the progress and professional development of each member of your team. One of your key priorities will be to eliminate casework drift or delay, ensuring that everyone in the team is meeting the statutory requirements in a timely manner. You’ll also promote working effectively with partners in the locality, across universal, early help and statutory services, to achieve the best possible outcomes.
You will be responsible for ensuring high quality and timely assessments lead to effective planning and interventions with the most vulnerable children and families in Devon. You will ensure our planning for looked after children enables them to be kept safe, maximises their potential, achieves permanence and leads to a successful transition to adulthood. You will work with your Team Manager colleagues in the area to ensure that every Devon child, no matter where they live, receives the same quality service.
Requirements of the team manager:
Degree or equivalent in social work
Current HCPC registration
Good track record with solid experience
Willingness to undergo all safeguarding checks to work with vulnerable adults and children
