Alison has been working with Backstop since 2011 and has over fifteen years experience in recruiting within the public sector. During this time Alison has developed a keen appreciation of the most important aspects of client service ‘it’s all about understanding exactly the skill set they are looking for, and what are the key aspects – three handpicked on-target candidates makes far more sense than ten nearly there’s’.
Alison really enjoys working in an atmosphere where financial imperatives are not the be all and end all. She enjoys the fact that results come from developing strong relationships with locums and clients as opposed to using clients as a resource to exploit.
6.30am I love getting up early to start the day in my own pace. I head to the local pool and do some laps. After this I feel refreshed and ready for the day!
9.00am Start work. On Mondays we have a brief recruitment team meeting – sharing updates from the previous week, agreeing the day’s priorities in terms of locums and vacancies. On Tuesdays we start the day with a full company meeting which gives us a vital overview on activity from all departments including the business development, compliance and finance teams.
9.45am Analyse job boards, target client websites and social networking sites to find out who is hiring and who is available for work.
10.00am Assess applications and emails that have come in overnight.
10.15am Create a shortlist of suitable CVs and call the candidates to discuss opportunities.
10.30am Call existing locums for weekly update, who is looking to move on, who is extending in contract, who has referrals for us!
11.00am Business Development! Call potential businesses to make introductions. Contact existing clients to ensure they are satisfied with our service and to encourage repeat business.
12.00pm Review the day so far. Read e-mails. Send CVs to clients. Review our progress against weekly targets and prioritise tasks for the rest of the day.
1.00 pm Lunch! Lovely bites of fresh fruits and some vegs with some guacamole. I like to keep healthy when in the office.
2.00pm Target update meet with recruitment consultant tracking present quarter’s activities, goals, targets and ongoing achievements.
